Material Selection
Strand and cable material types and their applications.
JSC provides you with a diverse selection of material to fulfill your customer’s custom strand and cable needs. Careful consideration of application requirements, relative availability, and cost is necessary when selecting strand and cable material type. JSC has experience processing a wide variety of wire materials from the common to the exotic.
Stainless Steel
The most common standard mechanical service material. It has good corrosion resistance, very good strength, a wide range of alloys and availability as well as being economical.
Copper Alloy
Is primarily used for electronic applications. Brass and Bronze Alloys can be used for additional strength, endurance, and cosmetic considerations.
High Carbon Steel
Is used for high strength applications including springs.
Nickel Alloy
Is used for a wide variety of applications including highly corrosive environments, electrical resistance, high temperatures, thermocouples and heating elements.
Aluminum Alloy
Is used for lightweight, low-density electrical conductors.
Brass Plated Steel
Is primarily used for high strength where good rubber adhesion is required.
Copper Clad Steel
Is used for high strength conductive requirements.
Titanium Alloy
Is used for light strength, specific corrosion resistance and biocompatibility applications.
